Handmade Card

This is a card I created from scratch. I used plain cream card stock from my stash to make a 4x6 card base. I inked the edges with vintage photo distress ink from Tim Holtz. The stamp set is from Close to My Heart, as well as the ribbon and inks the stamps are done in. I dyed the ribbon with Barn Red and then added alcohol blending solution to make the color more uniform. Then I sprayed the dried ribbon with gold glimmer mist to add some sparkle. The dress form is stamped in Juniper and the thimble and spool are stamped in Barn Red.
For the sentiment I created a small ticket from some scraps left over from the Recollections Regant Street paper stack and inked the edges with vintage photo as well. I stamped the sentiment in Chocolate from CTMH and embossed it with clear detail powder. It is tied to the ribbon with waxy flax from Close to My Heart.

For the inside, I wanted something simple but that added some decoration since I needed to write a fair amount. I used a top note acrylic shape from my stash as a template and traced in onto the back of this floral patterned paper from the Regant Street collection. It added just the right amount of color and pattern.

Destination Unknown

I started working on a paper bag album  and have it a little over half way completed. I am using the Tim Holtz Lost and Found 12x12 paper pad and black bags from Michael's. The goal with the project has been to create an interactive album with almost all paper and metal embellishments. I am going for a vintage, grungy look which is something I have never attempted. Usually my projects are clean and uncluttered with minimal embellishments other than tags and stamping. If you have thought about picking this collection up, I encourage you to do so. It is very gender neutral and can lend either way depending on your embellishments and what you choose as accent colors. I find myself hording the paper and not throwing scraps away! The other thing that I have discovered as I am working is that I this paper challenges me to add things to my page in terms of function and interaction that I had never considered before. I want to use as much paper as possible because I love it so I am adding pockets, pouches, minis with in a mini, etc to stretch this paper as far as possible and provide the reader with a highly interactive experience. It is most definitely the chunkiest book I have made and I still have 2 pages and the covers to finish. I can't wait to see where this project ends up. The best way to describe it so far is like a road trip with no map. The car is gassed up and I am headed where ever the wind ( or paper in this case) takes me!

Regent Street Mini Album

Here it is! This is the mini album I have been working on for a belated birthday gift. Its is made with the Recollections Regent Street 12x12 paper pad and bazill card stock for the page base. This is a hybrid project, meaning I combined elements from posts on Ustream and YouTube to create this book. The pages measure 6x6. Each page is a pocket page with a 5.75x5.75 inch photo mat inside. I have included some pockets on the pages as well to add smaller tags and pull outs that give the book more real estate. Enjoy!!

Front cover. Fastened with Tim Holtz hitch post and hair tie

First page has flap that flips up

Busy Bee!

This week is way busier than I had planned on! Not only am I getting ready for vacation (YEA!!) but I was called into work unexpectedly so I haven't had the time to finish my projects to post. Currently I am working on finishing a mini album for my friend Lisa as a belated birthday gift. Its a hybrid project of some YouTube videos from Following the Paper Trail and PaperPhenomenon. I will get into more detail as to what is the hybrid part when I post some pics, hopefully by the end of the week. In the mini I also included some tags and some other additions for more real estate in the book. I can't wait to show you all what it looks like! I am using the Recollections Regant Street 12x12 paper pad from Michael's, some Close to My Heart stamps and ink and some buttons and fasteners from Tim Holtz.

Mailbox and First Post Ever!

I started a blog!! I can't believe it!

I love working with paper, fabric, ribbons and trim, glitter, you name it. My goal is to share my creations and maybe inspire someone to make something themselves. Most recently I made a mailbox using a tutorial purchased from a fellow blogger Kathy Orta at http://paperphenomenon.blogspot.com/ I used the Recollections Union Square 12x12 paper pad from Michael's to cover the mailbox and a hitch post from Tim Holtz with a hair tie as my closure. The box is constructed out of medium weight chipboard from JoAnns, cardstock and scor-tape. Lots of scor-tape!
